Who Says Mike D'Antoni Doesn't Teach Defense?!?

Bill Walker, King of the Beach/Bench. Walker may or may not have called glass but that's how you end a half. So what a way to finish a weekend that opened with the Knicks playing down to the level of the league's worst with a loss to the Cavs and closing it out with a win against one of the league's premiere teams. And I know everyone is saying that the Amar'e's block on Lebron with seconds left could be "the play" for this team but let's not carried away with ourselves just yet - there's a lot of basketball left in this team and I have a feeling a lot more defining plays left in them.

Regardless of what the Knicks gave up, shit just got real in the Garden with STAT and Melo being the cornerstones of the Knicks' starting line up going forward. So yeah, YEAH CARMELO. Also thank god, the Knicks held onto Landry Fields, I can sort of deal with the others doing their thing somewhere else but if Landry was doing all his "Landriness" somewhere else, I would have been gutted. And finally, the unheralded headline in all of this - BALKMAN IS BACKMAN.

Goodnight Sweet Princes Gallo, Wil, Ray Ray, and Timofey Mozgov

The Melo-drama is finally over but before we get to the "hooray Carmelo is a Knick" stuff, let's get all wistful about the guys the Knicks gave up in the deal. Danillo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, and for 3 weeks, Timofey Mozgov were apart of a team that "brought the Knicks back" and while back was 2 games over .500 over the break - it was still better than the last decade. Granted, those guys plus Melo signing in the off season was ideal but the NBA isn't ideal - I'll miss Gallo's flaying drives, the Wu-Tang like swagger of the December version of Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler throwing it down and still having a flat affect, and we'll always have that game against Detroit, Moz.
