The Internets

Who plugs your deodorant/antiperspirant?

So if I choose my deordorant based on which actor/athlete is in the commercial, I think I'd be off the Duane Reed tomorrow to pick up some Old Spice because of this commercial -

Instead I use Right Guard which is sponsored by fictional baseball closers for the Cleveland Indians that Kenny says should play me in a movie about my social circle.

Girl Talk - Feed the Animals

So Girl Talk aka Gregg Gillis aka that dude who does those ridic mash ups released Feed The Animals to the internet yesterday doing what Radiohead did with In Rainbows, the pay what you want method with some bonuses - pay $5 and get the high quality flacc files, $10 and get the CD when illegal arts releases it. I didn't pay anything but I'm going get the vinyll when Wham City puts it out in the fall because Feed The Animals is that GOOD. It has something for everyone - here's 10 artists he's sampled to give some range - Jay Z, Fleetwood Mac, Roy Orbison, Lil' Wayne, Lil Mama, Tom Petty, Hot Chip, Megadeath, MC Hammer, and Radiohead. After my first listen, I really didn't want it to end as I was walking down 3rd avenue to my office this morning, I frowned and listened to the record another 3 times since.

Get the record now, just for the magic of Blackstreet's No Diggity with Kanye's Flashin Lights underneath into Radiohead's 15 step, it's really something or the summer jam of 08, Usher's Love in the Club into the Cure's In between days. For the record, it's better than anything on my top 6 list for reals.

From a little place called the internet...

Next time someone asks "Ryan, if you can have anything, what would it be?" I'm going to say R2D2 in a tuxedo shirt to be my butler which would be similar to the robot in Rocky IV.

Found the picture on Sorry I Missed Your Party where I've probably just wasted a hour browsing and waste more time in the next coming days browsing even more.

Anything's Possibleeeeeeee

3 phrases to add to your screaming or talking loudly vocab - ANYTHING'S POSSIBLE, TOP OF THE WORLD, and I'M CERTIFIED! Also loved the fake cry by KG, hitting on Michele Tafoya, or the embrace with Bill Russell, why couldn't David Lee be embracing Charles Oakley or Anthony Mason right now?

Top 6 of 2008

Alright, so it's June and 2008 is about half way over, so it's time for my half year in lists.

Top 6 records that have come out in 2008 in no particular order (so far and leaks don't count so no Deerhunter, Hold Steady and Wolf Parade which all kill):

The Dodos - Visiter

Lil Wayne - Tha Carter 3
Los Campesinos - Hold on now, Youngster

Lykke Li - Youth Novels

No Age - Nouns

Titus Andronicus - The Airing of Grievances

Free at last, Free at last

Drop everything you plan on doing this weekend - that show at summerstage, going to see the Incredible Hulk, hanging out with dear old dad on Father's Day, I really don't care what your
plans are because we're celebrating.

R Kelly is an innocent man in the eyes of a jury of his peers! I'll see you at the club.

Cereal Review Vol 1 -Kellogs Fruit Harvest Strawberry Blueberry

On the scale of Dennis Duffy sliding cereal scale (Dennis Duffy being Liz Lemon's on again off again beau on 30 Rock(a way better catch than the "Michael Clayton of Cleveland," Floyd)) with horrible being getting busted on Dateline's To Catch a Predator for showing up to " here to boff some chick named Mary," bad being having no reason to live because the New York Islanders lost a game, an average cereal is like knocking up Tina Fey's character Liz Lemon but in fact she has a fake pregnancy scare due to eating to many Sabor De Soledad chips, a good cereal being the "beeper king" of cereals and great being "the subway hero" of cereals.

To recap:
HORRIBLE - Dennis Duffy being busted on To Catch a Predator
BAD - Having no reason to live because the Islanders lost
AVERAGE - Pregnancy scare due to too many Sabor De Soledad throwing off Liz's period
GOOD - The Beeper King of Cereals
GREAT - The Subway Hero of Cereals
THE BEST - The Subway Hero CLAP CLAP CLAP Subway Hero CLAP CLAP CLAP Of Cereals

Anyway, cereal one is Kellogg's Fruit Harvest Strawberry Blueberry, and it's pretty decent, here's the description from Kellogg's "gorgeous slices of real strawberries and whole blueberries are combined with lightly sweetened crunchy flakes. Picked fresh from the summer berry patch, these plump and juicy berries are filled with the sweetness you'll treasure." I don't know if I'd go all way and call the dried up fruit gorgeous but the crunchy flakes are splendid. It's a good cereal with milk but when you just want to munch on some dry cereal, it's pretty bad so I'm going to equate eating Fruit Harvest Strawberry Blueberry with fake knocking up Liz Lemon, it wouldn't be horrible if Dennis knocked up Liz but at the same time, he dodges the bullet of the pitter patter of a little Tina Fey/Dean Winters baby walking around. Eating FHSB is not good as being the SUBWAY HERO but it is better than being meeting up with Chris Hanson, it's pretty average - I'd rather be eating a bagel or a Bacon Egg and Cheese but it's better than spoiled yogurt or a rotten banana.

Final Rating - AVERAGE - Like a pregnancy scare but it's really too many Mexican chips throwing off Liz's menstrual cycle.

Defining characteristic of Gina Robinson

Waitress - "Would you like to be embarrassed?"
Gina - "Does it involve free cake?"

The words free and cake would probably be words that most people would think of when they think of Gina, I should have taken a poll but regardless, last night's encounter with the Jenny Lewis-lite waitress at Gina's birthday dinner said it all.

More of these defining characteristics of my friends to come in the future, happy b-day verbal!

Is this segway, the wrong way?

So in today's Metro, there' s a story about a 49 man from Breighton Beach who commutes 15 miles daily to his job in Midtown Manhattan on a Segway. Now riding a segway seems like a great idea in 2008 - great for the enviroment and since it's electic powered, you don't need to worry about filling up at the pump, it's a win win situation for Jonathan Gleich. Except sometimes, a win win can turn into a lose lose as a) NY DMV doesn't allow one to registar a segway and b) while the disabled are allowed to use Segways in NY, Gliech who has MS has been slapped with 4 tickets for riding the segway.

And now while I do feel for Gleich and honestly do think that the NYC police should worry about greater things than busting a 49 year old male with MS for riding his segway, this post is more of an excuse to post a picture of GOB on his segway.

Happy Friday, I'm off to Portugal. Gonna live it up in ol' South America.
